Police open vehicle clearance office in Ondangwa

Tuyeimo Haidula
In an ongoing effort to enhance service delivery, the Oshana police have commissioned a new motor vehicle clearance office in Ondangwa. The inauguration took place on Wednesday and was led by the Oshana police regional commander, Commissioner Naftal Lungameni Sakaria.

Commissioner Sakaria emphasised that the new office is more than just a physical expansion; it reflects the police's commitment to providing a more accessible, streamlined, and efficient service for the community.

“With this new facility, we aim to reduce the burden on our citizens who previously had to travel long distances for motor vehicle clearance to Oshakati. This office will bring these essential services closer to the people, saving both time and costs for the residents of Ondangwa and surrounding areas,” Sakaria stated.

He further explained that the office is expected to improve the speed and accuracy of motor vehicle clearance processes. It will also support ongoing efforts to combat crime, ensure road safety, and promote compliance with national laws.

Commissioner Sakaria highlighted the importance of leveraging technology to enhance public service accessibility, in line with the police's mandate to safeguard life and property, maintain public order, and uphold the rule of law.

He urged the police officers stationed at the new office to serve the public impartially and to process vehicle clearances swiftly and efficiently.

Sakaria also called for public cooperation.

“I call upon members of the community to take full advantage of this new facility, which is to serve you better. We encourage the public to continue to cooperate with the Namibian police force in fostering a safe and more secure environment for all,” he said.

The commissioner expressed gratitude to Jan Japan Motors for donating equipment valued at N$18,799 to the new office. He noted that this partnership exemplifies the spirit of collaboration that is essential for strengthening relationships between the police and corporate partners.

Mmassa Christian Batende, the branch manager for Jan Japan Motors in Ondangwa, highlighted the importance of the police clearance certificate for car dealers and private individuals alike.

The new office will also benefit residents from Oshivelo, providing an alternative to travelling to Tsumeb, Ondangwa, or Oshikango for vehicle clearance services. — [email protected]
