Police officer arrested for DUI
A police officer has been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
According to a police report, it is alleged that a white Toyota Hilux with a Nampol registration, POL 9195, collided with a Honda Fit on Thursday 11 January 2024 at 22:37 along Independence Road in Walvis Bay.
The suspect allegedly drove on a public road under the influence with a concentration of alcohol exceeding 0. 37g per 100ml blood specimen.
It is alleged that the suspect drove the motor vehicle in a reckless and negligent manner and collided with the Honda Fit.
Both vehicles obtained major visible damage, however no serious injuries were sustained to passengers in both vehicles.
All occupants were treated at the Walvis Bay state hospital.
Further investigations in the matter continue.
