Oshana regional police commander, Commissioner Naftal Lungameni Sakaria, on Tuesday asked his officers to provide friendly service, saying customers should not be mistreated or sent away without help.

He was speaking at the official opening of the renovated charge office at the Oshakati Police Station. The officers had been carrying out some of their duties under a tree, making their work difficult during the rainy season.

Oshakati mayor Leonard Hango officiated the event.

He thanked those who made donations to see the office renovated, and urged them to continue to assist and meet government halfway.

The manager of Oshakati Pharmacy, Peter Williams, made a donation of N$7 107. Oshakati Police Station commander Allo Mathew donated N$700, while Oshana Namibian Police Women’s Network donated N$925.

Be friendly

“It is very important that as we move to a more customer-friendly building. I am calling upon the police officers - I want friendly service delivery. When people come here, they should be treated as customers and I should not get calls about people being sent away or not properly attended to,” Sakaria said.

He urged the public to report any mistreatment from police officers.

“We are striving to achieve good customer service in the whole region.”
