Human skull discovered at Ondangwa
A human skull and jawbone was discovered recently at Ondangwa.
Head of regional crime investigations, deputy commissioner Theophilus Kamati, said the bones were found by a factory worker who was manufacturing bricks.
"The skull was allegedly found in a pile of sand that was brought by their truck driver," Kamati said, adding that the sand is from Onashiku village in the Oshakati area.
The truck driver reportedly informed investigators that he collected the sand last month.
"When we arrived at the secondary scene where sand mining was in progress, a member of the community said in the olden days there used to be a cemetery close to where the mine is situated and there is a possibility that the skull is from there,” he said.
According to Kamati, the cemetery site has since been cordoned off.
The remains have been transported to a forensic facility. Police investigations continue.
