Boy (5) die of suspected poisoning on Christmas Day

Kenya Kambowe
Police in Oshikoto are investigating a case of suspected poisoning of a five-year-old boy who died on Christmas Day this week at Onuukulu village in Omuthiya Constituency.

According to a police report into the incident, the deceased, identified as Tuhafeni Tuyoleni Wilhelm, and another child, aged 12, were left home alone by their grandmother who had went to nearby cuca shops in the afternoon.

“The deceased began complaining of headache while [the grandmother] was away. Upon the grandmother's return, the deceased claimed he had fallen from a marula tree. However, upon inspection, the grandmother found no footprints or evidence of a fall,” the police report reads.

“She sought assistance from a traditional healer in the village. Tragically, the child passed away upon arrival at the traditional healer’s home before receiving any treatment.”

An autopsy conducted on 27 December revealed that the cause of death was poisoning of an unknown nature.
