Father arrested for child’s death

A five-month-old baby died Saturday at Nkandi village in Kavango West, three months after sustaining a serious head injury when he was reportedly hit by a stone thrown at his mother by his biological father during a domestic dispute.

“The victim was then transported to Nankudu Hospital and later transferred to Windhoek State Hospital for further treatment after sustaining a skull fracture. The deceased has undergone medical follow-ups at Nankudu Hospital since his discharge from Windhoek State Hospital and last visited the hospital on 11 October,” a police report states.

The 33-year-old suspect is currently in custody at Nkurenkuru Police Station. He was initially charged with attempted murder, but this was amended to a murder charge under the Domestic Violence Act following the child's death, the police reported.
