RCC boss appeals for peace

Ogone Tlhage
Roads Contractor Company (RCC) acting CEO Maria Nakale has appealed for peace amid a recent demonstration into the affairs of the company from employees during a wage negotiation held regarding the state of the institution.

Nakale made the appeal during the inking of a recognition agreement with the Namibia Public Workers Union (Napwu).

“The issue of character assassination... people cannot be defined by their titles before we become board members; we are human beings. When we approach other people in a hostile manner and then later we want to talk about harmonious relationships, there is nothing in hostility that can bring a harmonious relationship,” Nakale said.

“As an employer, RCC will never disrespect the rights and integrity of the employer. We all have a long-term vision,” she added.

Napwu deputy general secretary Matthew Ndeshikeya said the union would address the concerns of the wokers and maintained it would address them.

“We have taken note, we will address it at an appropriate forum,” he said.

RCC employees recently held a demonstration, bringing to light a salary hike.
