EFF MP, South Africa

After his retirement as president of Namibia in 2005, I had the opportunity in 2008 to meet President Nujoma at his home outside Windhoek. It was one of the highlights of my life. I will always treasure those memories. My heartfelt condolences go out to his widow, Mother of the Namibian Nation, uMama Kovambo Nujoma, their children and the whole of the Namibian Nation. May his great revolutionary soul rest in peace.

Xi Jinping

President of China

Nujoma was a statesman and revolutionary of the older generation in Africa who made historic contributions in leading the Namibian people in their pursuit of national independence and liberation and a development path suited to the country's conditions.

Harald Hecht

Chairperson, Forum of German-Speaking Namibians

The Forum of German-Speaking Namibians is forever grateful to our Founding Father for his invaluable contribution in securing freedom of speech and expression being entrenched in our Constitution, which paved the way for peaceful cohabitation and the continued cultural diversity in our motherland, including the protection of our mother language, German. Our sincere condolences go to his wife and former First Lady Kovambo Nujoma, his immediate family and all relatives, and the entire Namibian nation.

Charles III

King of the United Kingdom

President Nujoma's contribution to history was immense, through his leadership of the long struggle for independence and his subsequent service of fifteen years as the Founding President of the Republic of Namibia. I recall with particular gratitude how much Her late Majesty The Queen enjoyed her state visit to Namibia in 1991, hosted so graciously by President Nujoma. His lifelong commitment to freedom and democracy, overcoming so much adversity on that journey, was truly inspirational.

Leon Jooste

Former minister of public enterprises

Sam Nujoma touched and changed my life in ways that that are literally indescribable. Rest in peace, Tatekulu, friend and Father of our Nation.
