MVA Fund takes services to Ohangwena

Jemimah Ndebele
In a bid to amplify road safety measures and bolster its commitment to aiding individuals affected by road traffic accidents, the Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Fund has launched an extensive community outreach endeavour dubbed 'MVA Fund on Wheels' in the Ohangwena Region.

This week-long campaign aims to bridge the gap between the fund's services and the local populace, while simultaneously enhancing public understanding of the manifold advantages, products, and services offered by the fund.

Concerns addressed

The fund has underscored a pressing concern regarding the Ohangwena Region's standing as the third-highest contributor to road crash fatalities.

"The fund noted with concern that Ohangwena Region ranks third in the number of road crash-related fatalities, while a high number of MVA Fund incomplete claims also arise from the region lacking the required documentation or simply incorrectly filled out,” the fund’s spokesperson, Hilaria Graig, said.

“These incomplete claim forms cause challenges for the fund to finalise the claim process within the prescribed period," she added.

The crux of the community outreach programme is to address these critical issues, primarily focusing on comprehensive claim registration and resolution of queries, as well as educating the public on proper claim form completion, fostering product comprehension, and promoting stakeholder engagement.

Reaching out to all

The 'MVA Fund on Wheels' task force is set to traverse the communities of Ondobe, Okongo, Helao Nafidi, Ongha, Ongenga, and Eenhana. While the MVA Fund already boasts eight strategically positioned service centres across the nation, this dynamic initiative empowers the fund to venture into remote communities that lack dedicated service centres.

The impact of the programme is set to be amplified as the MVA Fund has partnered with NBC Kati FM (Oshiwambo Radio) to broadcast live segments of the week's activities, ensuring a wider dissemination of the road safety message. Additionally, the programme's activations will feature the esteemed Oshiwambo artist Shitana.
