Fitty raises new grounds for bail release
Tamson Hatuikulipi is back in court to apply for bail on grounds that there are many off-ramp court processes currently going on which will delay the start of the Fishrot trial, saying this would mean remaining in jail pending finalisation of those matters.
They include the current leave to appeal Judge Shafimana Ueitele’s denial of bail to other accused persons, opposition to the joinder application by some of his co-accused and the extradition of disgraced lawyer Maren de Klerk, which has not yet kicked off formally.
Hatuikulipi says his incarceration also means he does not have money to pay his lawyers to attend to the pre-trial report.
