EARLY CHRISTMAS JOY: Christmas came early for children in Walvis Bay after the office of the Walvis Bay rural councillor handed over 300 Christmas goodie packs on Friday for an early festive celebration for kids younger than 14. Florian Tegako Donatus, the Walvis Bay Rural constituency councillor, said the initiative usually targets the elderly. However, this year, the focus expanded to include children. "This year, we decided to divide our budget in half. Half goes to the kids, and half goes to families unable to afford Christmas gifts or food", Donatus said. One of the beneficiaries, 13-year-old Frieda Shimbaba, expressed her heartfelt gratitude. "I am very thankful for what I received. We should all appreciate what we have. We shouldn't get angry about what others have. What you have is enough. Never get jealous of other people's things – your time will come."
