MTC 4Life programme back with a bang

MTC has announced the continuation of its corporate social investment project, MTC 4Life, which aims to equip young entrepreneurs with essential business and practical skills to start or expand their small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

The programme, designed to combat youth unemployment, will train 40 young Namibians in various trades, including barbering, brick manufacturing, animation, carpentry, hairstyling, electrical and solar installation, upholstery and welding.

The training will be conducted by qualified Namibian professionals, and upon completion, participants will receive a start-up toolkit and N$5 000 in capital.

This year, the programme is focused on four regions: Erongo, Hardap, Omaheke and Zambezi. MTC corporate communications practitioner Erasmus Nekundi explained that the phased regional approach ensures effective implementation.

“Since last year, we have adopted a targeted approach of tackling a few regions at a time. This strategy ensures we achieve programme efficacy and a meaningful impact. Last year, we covered Omusati, Kavango East and West, Kunene and Otjozondjupa, and now we are continuing with the new regions,” Nekundi explained.

Since the programme's inception in 2022, MTC has spent N$4.5 million, providing N$1.5 million annually.

Nekundi emphasised MTC’s commitment to contributing to Namibia’s socio-economic development through initiatives like MTC 4Life, which provides young people with the necessary skills and resources to create employment opportunities.

Interested candidates have until 27 February to apply. Application details and requirements are on the MTC website and social media pages.
