Martin Lukato: A letter of congratulations

Reader's letter
John Steytler
Dear Honourable Lukato,

It is with immense joy and deep admiration that I extend my heartfelt congratulations on your long-awaited and well-earned election to parliament. Your journey to this moment has been defined by perseverance, resilience, and an unwavering belief in the power of service. For twenty-one years, you have stood firm in your conviction, undeterred by challenges, unshaken by setbacks, and steadfast in your pursuit of representing the people who have placed their trust in you.

Your victory is more than a personal triumph – it is a testament to the principles of democracy and the belief that commitment and hard work will always have their due reward. You have demonstrated remarkable endurance in the face of obstacles, proving that leadership is not simply about winning elections but about standing for something greater than oneself. You have fought not for position but for purpose, and that is what makes this achievement so profound.

Now, as you take your rightful place among the lawmakers of our nation, you carry with you the voices of those who have long awaited representation, those who have believed in your vision, and those who trust in your ability to lead with wisdom and integrity. This responsibility is both an honour and a challenge, but if your past is any indication, there is no doubt that you will serve with distinction.

May your time in parliament be marked by meaningful action, by policies that uplift those who have been unheard for too long, and by decisions that shape a stronger and more just Namibia. May you continue to be guided by the very values that have brought you to this moment – determination, fairness and a deep sense of duty.

Once again, congratulations on this well-deserved success. I have no doubt that you will bring great leadership, insight and commitment to your new role. Wishing you strength, wisdom and fulfilment in the service of our great nation.

With my highest respect and best wishes,

John Steytler
