Namibia's senior national rugby team will clash with South African provincial side, the Southern Kings, tomorrow in a Japan Rugby World Cup warm-up match at Walvis Bay High School at 15:00.

With excitement around the upcoming Japan Rugby World Cup intensifying, Namibia will play their final warm-up match before the tournament kicks off on 20 September against the Southern Kings this weekend.

With the global spectacle now about two weeks away, Namibia will be eager to test combinations and sharpen skills.

Coach Phil Davies and captain Johan Deysel will be trying to build confidence before they head to Japan, where Italy, New Zealand, South Africa and Canada lie in wait in Pool B.

In last week's warm-up match against the same opponents they face tomorrow, Namibia came out on top 28-22. This a positive, according to Namibia Rugby Union (NRU) president Corrie Mensah. “The players are expected to make the nation proud,” Mensah said.

The Southern Kings are using the match as preparation for the upcoming Guineas PRO14 season.

The competition is an annual one involving professional sides from Ireland, Italy, Scotland, South Africa and Wales. Namibia's players for tomorrow's match will be picked from the 31-man squad heading to Japan.



The squad is as follows:

Forwards (18) - Obert Nortje, Louis van der Westhuizen, Torsten van Jaarsveld, Aranos Coetzee, AJ de Klerk, André Rademeyer, Desiderius Sethie, Nelius Theron, Johan Retief, Tjiuee Uanivi, PJ van Lill, Adriaan Booysen, Wian Conradie, Thomasau Forbes, Prince !Gaoseb, Max Katjijeko, Rohan Kitshoff and Janco Venter.

Backs (13) - Helarius Kisting, Lesley Klim, PJ Walters, Chad Plato, Johann Tromp, Darryl de la Harpe, Johan Deysel, JC Greyling, Justin Newman, Janry du Toit, Cliven Loubser, Eugene Jantjies and Damian Stevens.
