Windhoek Charity Fundraiser: Three years of giving
Windhoek Charity Fundraiser helps the less fortunate through sport and music.

Made up of young men and women who are passionate about philanthropy, the Windhoek Charity Organisation, through its annual Windhoek Charity Cup, has for the last three years made an impactful contribution to the survival of marginalised children around Windhoek.
The organisation has stepped in where many have failed to supplement efforts by the government and the private sector to provide for the less fortunate.
“Windhoek Charity has a big impact on Tiloveyeni Care Foundation. Because of them, we started writing letters to different organisations and their presence has brought more donations,” said Biriha Ndeshihala Embula from a foundation which has been one of the beneficiaries of the charity.
Before this partnership, Tiloveyeni found assistance by word of mouth and through Facebook, which was not as effective.
Today, the presence of Windhoek Charity has opened new doors for the foundation, which now receives more donations from other organisations because of the visibility they have since gained.
The organisation has also made it possible for the foundation to offer soup to the needy every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday instead of the once-weekly schedule they had in the past.
Furthermore, support in the form of a water tank that provides clean, accessible water to the home has been a sustainable way of giving the foundation essentials that won’t dry up when donations are not pouring in.
At least four children’s homes have benefitted from donations by Windhoek Charity Organisation and every year, corporates, social media influencers, local celebrities and the general public are encouraged to contribute whatever they can to help the organisation continue make a meaningful impact.
About the organisation
Windhoek Charity Organisation is a formalised non- governmental organisation that hosts an annual charity event known as Windhoek Charity Fundraiser. The organisation is now in its fourth year of existence and has grown exponentially, raising over N$500 000 for the neediest children in Windhoek.
To avoid being a provider of short-term solutions, the organisation focuses on providing tangible benefits that are long-lasting and will benefit the children long after the event is over.
Notable sponsors and partners who have contributed over the years include Omaulu Fishing, NDTC, Coca-Cola, Pupkewitz Mega Build, Ready Bites, EMH Prescient, the One Economy Foundation and 99FM.
Beneficiaries of the charity over the last three years include Tilovayeni Care Foundation, Meameno Children’s Home and Dolam Children’s Home.
The fundraiser features sports tournaments and music performances, while food and beverage stalls provide refreshment to attendees throughout the day.
The next Windhoek Charity Cup will take place on 2 May and is billed to be bigger and better than ever. For more information on how to make a contribution, visit windhoekcharity.com.
