Weekend recap
The festive season is officially over and Namibian creatives and brands are back at it, curating and feeding us with content.
Events
Hosted by DJ Dreas, the Amis Day Club took place yesterday at Hotel Pension Moni where the cool kids of Windhoek flocked to have a good time. The line-up featured Tumi Mohamed, Whatwhat, Pequeno Gang, Sxdated and the host himself, DJ Dreas. The event had a good turnout and promises to be a future meeting point where Namibian music can be exchanged.
Moreover, Home of the Arts (HOTA) announced the launch of its newest live music experience – Voices From The River - taking place on Thursday, 27 January, at Werah Café in Rundu. Kicking off at 19:30, the show will feature the legendary Capitol K alongside a live band.
“I am honoured to be the first artist to grace the Voices From The River stage. I have not entertained my fans in a long time and I look forward to engaging with them, taking them through the making of some of my biggest hits,” Capitol K said, adding that he is grateful to HOTA for the platform to share his art.
The Goethe-Insititut Namibia also took to social media to announce that it is gearing up for the first Night Under The Stars event of the year. “Are you ready for another year of live music? Who would you like to see on the Night Under The Stars stage?” it asked.
New release
Kwaito artist Manxebe released visuals to his new song, ‘Meditation’, on Saturday, 22 January. The song features his frequent collaborator TopCheri. The video went viral, garnering over 10 000 views on YouTube in a day. Catch Manxebe on tjil sessions at 19:00 this Friday. All the action will be live on Namibian Sun’s Facebook page.
