The Namibian social calendar was packed with back-to-back events last weekend. Here’s a recap of what went down.
Katutura Fashion Week awards
Namibian Sun bagged the media house of the year award at the third annual Katutura Fashion Week. The event took place on Saturday, 28 August, at the Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre in Windhoek. Twenty categories were awarded in total.
Chanique Rabe’s homecoming
Namibia’s Chanique Rabe - who recently won Miss Supranational in Poland - is back home. She was welcomed yesterday at Hosea Kutako International Airport by the deputy education minister Faustina Calley and youth minister, Agnes Tjongarero.
At her homecoming press briefing, Rabe shared that she does not have appetite to take part in other international beauty pageants. “I am so honoured to wear this title and do not see myself entering another international pageant. Of course, I would have to go through Miss Namibia to go to another international pageant.
“But to me, this is so special and such a huge honour. I know it’s quite a new pageant so it’s not that well known in this part of the world, but in the east and the west, it’s really popular. I am honoured to have this title and I respect the organisation I am a part of right now,” she said.
Hunter’s tjil sessions
Namibian Sun’s tjil hosted another successful Hunter’s tjil sessions, this time featuring the multi award-winning artist, Lize Ehlers, and Morenga. The show is available on Namibian Sun’s Facebook page.
ViralCom introduces bestseller of the month award
ViralCom, a platform that allows fans to download Namibian music for just N$3, has introduced a new award for the bestselling artist of the month. “This award will go to the artist with the highest sales figures on ViralCom. The winner takes home a N$2 000 cash prize. This is in addition to the accumulated digital sales,” platform funder, AB Pro, said.
