WINDHOEK
It was busy weekend in the world of entertainment, both locally and internationally. Here is a summary of the what went down.
Starting at home, it was music video galore as duo Ethnix and rapper Lioness released visuals to their new singles, ‘Ohole So Nice’ and ‘Superstar’ respectively. Both music videos were shot by Spectrum Media. Available on YouTube, the clips are raking in big numbers. ‘Ohole So Nice’ has accumulated 5 400 views in a day, while Lioness’ ‘Superstar’ has garnered over 14 000 views in two days.
Big win
In news beyond Namibian borders, Nigerian Afrobeat stars Burna Boy and Wizkid have won their first ever Grammy Awards. Burna Boy won the coveted award for best world music album, beating out strong contenders Tuareg desert rock group Tinariwen, NYC Afrobeat outfit Antibalas, Brazilian-American Bebel Gilberto and British-Indian sitar player Anoushka Shankar.
"This a big win for my generation of Africans all over the world and this should be a lesson to every African out there, no matter where you are, no matter what you plan to do, you can achieve it because you are king," Burna Boy said in his acceptance speech.
In the best music video category, Beyoncé's ‘Brown Skin Girl’ took home the award. Wizkid was featured in the song, which has South Africa’s Anatii on songwriting credits.
