The Brave Warriors are champing at the bit ahead of their battle with Eritrea in the first leg of a 2022 Fifa World Cup preliminary round qualifier.

The match is set to take place today at the Dendan Stadium in Asmara at 14:00.

Interim Warriors coach Bobby Samaria has selected a trusted squad and is impressed with the way the players have performed during training.

Namibia, who are ranked 121st in the world, will be the favourites against a nation ranked 202nd.

It will be a baptism of fire for Samaria, in terms of World Cup qualification campaigns, and he will be hoping to outsmart the Eritrean management.

Eritrea go into the match knowing they will need to beat Namibia at home, in order to stand any chance of advancing to the next stage, as the Warriors will host the next leg.

Samaria’s charges, however, plan to get the job done away from home.

It will be the first time these two countries meet and both will be hoping for a place in the next round of the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers.

The return leg takes place next Tuesday at 19:00 at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek.

The Warriors squad is as follow: Virgil Vries (unattached), Loydt Kazapua (Baroka FC, SA), Larry Horaeb (Tura Magic), Aprocious Petrus (Eleven Arrows), Ratanda Mbazuvara, Ivan Kamberipa, Obrey Amseb and Marcel Papama (all African Stars), Dynamo Fredericks, Vitapi Ngaruka, Immanuel Heita and Wendell Rudath (all Black Africa), Llewelyn Stanley (Tigers), Elmo Kambindu (Mighty Gunners), Gregory Aukumeb (Blue Waters), Willy Stephanus (Lusaka Dynamos, Zambia), Peter Shalulile (Highlands Park, SA) Chris Katjiukua (Black Leopards, SA), Benson Shilongo (Ismaily, Egypt), Hendrik Somaeb (unattached), Deon Hotto (Bidvest Wits, SA), Joslin Kamatuka and Teberius Lombard (Zanaco, Zambia).
