Venaani takes on Swapo, Geingob

The Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) president McHenry Venaani has accused the Swapo administration of building its new headquarters with Fishrot money.
Speaking at a rally in the Khomas Region’s Katutura East constituency, Venaani said it is the first time in Namibian history that a building of “N$1 billion” was built without a bank loan.
“If Swapo is really for the people, where did they get the money while people are living in shacks and are poor?
“I dare say that building was financed with Fishrot money.”
‘Geingob, I am coming for you’
He also drew a comparison between the Swapo headquarters and the Katatura State Hospital, which he said has become a facility of cockroaches.
“President Hage Geingob, I am coming for you. You are saying you are governing with transparency. I challenge you. Days before the polls, you have given fishing quotas to companies, but your government has not released the names of these companies.”
“I dare to say there is a second wave of Fishrot happening,” Venaani said.
Share the wealth
The PDM leader further said that no foreigners will be awarded tenders in urban areas under his party’s leadership.
He said they will award big tenders to many companies to share the wealth, of which a share of 30% will be reserved for youth and women.
According to him, this will also stimulate the small and medium enterprise sector.
He further promised to reduce the water and electricity rate of all domestic workers once PDM is voted into power in the upcoming elections.
To address crime, Venaani said they will reform the Windhoek City Police to put more “boots on the ground”. He said this will be done by allowing more young people to serve as reservists.
No nepotism, tribalism, corruption
Another change Venaani said the party aims to make is to reform the taxi licencing system, which will be measured by points.
“If your points are depleted, the licence will be withdrawn, but we do not want to make money out of taxis through fines.”
He stressed that nepotism, tribalism and corruption will not be tolerated, adding that the membership of candidates will be revoked once elected and they are found guilty of these.
