Update on registration dates for NUST students
The deposit on tuition fees and registration fees is still the same as last year.

The Namibia University of Science and Technology’s (NUST) online registration period for new students has been extended from 26 February to 5 March 2021.
New students who have not received feedback on their admission status may register during the week of 1 to 5 March without having to pay a late registration fee. This is only applicable to cases where the applicants meet the admission requirements.
NUST informed its students who are first-time beneficiaries who received acknowledgement letters for the 2021 academic year may pay a minimum registration deposit of N$2 200.
Selma Heelu, the acting registrar of NUST, said all senior international students were permitted to register during the week of 23 to 26 February. This enabled students to apply for study permits before the due date of 28 February 2021.
New students who have received text messages stating that they have been fully admitted are encouraged to visit the campus to pay the required registration deposit. The payments made via this method reflect on the system automatically, which will then enable students to proceed to online registration.
New students who are not in Windhoek can make deposits directly into the NUST registration bank account.
Financial Matters
The NUST executive announced after a meeting on 29 January that there would be no adjustment to tuition fees. The deposit on tuition fees, including registration fees, is still the same as last year.
The undergraduate and honours degree registration fee is N$4 200 and for master’s degrees and doctorates it is N$8 400. The vice-chancellor, Erold Naomab, said the decision took account of the financial hardship brought about by Covid-19.
“As a rule of good practice, this decision was discussed with and approved by both the finance and management committees of the council,” he said.
The deposit on student residence fees is still the same as last year - N$4 200 – but the cost of meals has increased by 7%.
Mobile Devices
The ministry of higher education, training and technology, through the Namibian Student Financial Aid Fund (NSFAF), acquired mobile devices to assist the students with the transition to online or remote teaching and learning.
Noamab says after consultations with NSFAF, the Exco resolved to distribute devides at a discounted price of N$345 each. The devices will be loaded with 10Gb of data per month, free for 12 months.
The internet pocket WIFI devices are mandatory for all first-year students (new intakes) and all the senior students funded by NSFAF, and are optional for all other students.
“It is the view of the university that the above mentioned will assist to some extent, for more students to access and adapt smoothly to the challenges of tertiary education,” Naomab said.
