Tigers appoint Jacobs

Jesse Kauraisa
Tigers football club yesterday confirmed the appointment of former Orlando Pirates coach Woody Jacobs as their new coach.

Jacobs's appointment follows the resignation of the league strugglers' coach Lucky Kakuva, who just had a short stint with the 2015/16 premier league champions.

Tigers public relations officer Hafeni Hiveluah confirmed the coach's appointment yesterday.

“I can confirm that we have appointed Woody Jacobs as our new coach.

“Woody comes with plenty of experience and is the guy capable of taking the team out of the troubles they find themselves in now,” Hiveluah said.

Tigers will come up against Civics FC at the Sam Nujoma Stadium tonight.

Tigers currently are in 12th position after having played nine games this season. They have collected only ten points.

Tigers are trailing early pace-setters African Stars and Tura Magic by a large margin of points.

For the league champions, the title raise for them is all but done given the number of points they will need if they are to turn the tables around.

Civics on the other hand are just one point above Tigers with 11 points having won two games with four draws and five loses.

A win for Tigers means that they will go two points above Civics, while a win for Civics will increase their lead over Tigers to four points.
