Swakop Uranium to host second Husab Marathon
Swakop Uranium will host its annual Husab Marathon on 13 August after a successful inaugural event last year.
More than 500 participants took part in the race last year, with runners from the army and police dominating the marathon and 10km races. More participants are expected this year.
Run along a scenic route, all the way up to the Husab Mine and back to the B2 road, the race is aimed at attracting competitive runners, while serving as a fun day for communities from Walvis Bay, Swakopmund, Henties Bay and Arandis who want to take part in the 5km walk/run.
Athletes are urged to get fit and enter for the marathon, which is aimed at becoming one of the premier races on the Namibian calendar.
Participants can download the application form from the Swakop Uranium website www.swakopuranium.com.
Online application can be done by visiting the following link: https://husabmarathon.myactive.co.za/CaptureDetails/Registration.aspx.
Closing date for application is 8 August, while registration will take place on 12 August from 15:00 to 21:00 at the Vineta Sports Grounds.
Transport will be provided for runners from Walvis Bay, Swakopmund and Arandis to the Husab access road. The pick-up point in Walvis Bay will be at the taxi rank in Nathaniel Maxwilili Street at 05:30; in Swakopmund at 06:00 at the Dome; and in Arandis at 06:30 at the Zebra bus stop.
