Suspects on run after farmworker murder

Two suspects are still on the run after the murder of a 69-year-old farmworker from Tsumeb.

He was found hanging from a tree with a wire around his neck on Friday.

According to the police, preliminary investigations indicate that he was murdered. One suspect was arrested on Saturday, while two others have yet to be apprehended.

In a separate incident on Saturday, the body of a man was found in a pool of blood on Saturday in Tsumeb.

His body was found on an unmarked street between St Francis Primary School and the Teacher Resource Centre. Next to the body were objects suspected to have been used in the commission of the crime, according to the police.

The deceased was only identified as Fritz (Gogo).

Violent crimes

In another incident on Sunday in Wanaheda, the body of a 27-year-old man was found lying alongside the road with a stab wound under his right arm. No arrest has yet been made.

At Onandjaba, a six-year-old girl was raped by a 28-year-old man on Thursday in the Onamhindi village.

The man allegedly found the girl when she was on her way back from her neighbour’s house. He allegedly grabbed, undressed and raped her. The suspect has been arrested.

Diamonds and drugs

Meanwhile, a 33-year-old man was arrested in Rundu for being in the possession of four unpolished diamonds without a permit on Thursday.

He was found at Wimpy in the Ndama location, and the value of the diamonds is not known.

In another incident, a 37-year-old man was found with a marijuana plantation, valued at N$85 000, during a police search in Wanaheda on Friday.

At Outapi, a 19-year-old woman died in a hospital after drinking tombo at an unknown shebeen at the Omaela location in the Onavivi village on Saturday.

Her body was transported to the Outapi District Hospital where the cause of death will be determined.
