On Saturday, 27 November 2021 the Bank Windhoek long-course gala was held at the Olympia swimming pool in Windhoek.

The day was very hot and the swimmers were full of smiles as they got a chance to do a sport they enjoy, as well as interact with all the other swimmers.

“So far the gala has been really good, the vibes here seem to be very cool and it is like Covid never happened. I just hope overall that it continues like this and that Covid does not stop these sports activities anymore,” said Zurique Benjamin, who is from Deutsche Höhere Privatschule Windhoek (DHPS) and Aqua Swimming Club.

The organisers of the swimming gala were happy with the turnout and look forward to seeing everybody back in the water at the end of January for the next gala.

“Overall the swimmers are doing really well and we are very pleased to end the year on a high note. Next year we are looking forward to the South African championships which will be held over various tournaments, so looking forward to that and we are very excited,” said Jean Leither, the Aqua Club swimming coach.
