WALVIS BAY

In the past week, three suicides were reported in Kuisebmond, Walvis Bay – a trend that is worrying the police.

“We call on our community to look for solutions to problems instead of taking their lives,” police spokesman Ileni Shapumba said.

“When a person has problems, they should seek social support and talk about it to trusted family members or others, like a pastor.”

According to Shapumba, the most recent suicide occurred on Tuesday.

Robert Hamukonda (34) was found hanging at the Kuisebmond soccer stadium.

“The deceased was last seen on Tuesday evening after leaving home following an argument.”

In another incident, Fillemon Nghatanga (35) took his own life on Saturday morning after allegedly murdering his 33-year-old girlfriend with a knife, while last Thursday, Isai Panduleni Sheefeni (34) committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope.
