Shilongo hopes to secure new contract
Brave Warriors striker Benson Shilongo is back to Botswana for his club, Gaborone United, and is raring to go.
He hopes to make this year a memorable one in his football career and to secure an extension of his contract.
He said he had a wonderful holiday back home and spent quality time with his family and friends.
“It is always good to be home and rub shoulders with family. I missed them, they missed me too, so I’m happy I saw them but now I am back in Gaborone for work,” said Shilongo.
The former Tigers striker said he was fully charged and looking forward to what the year has to offer.
His primary focus is to do what he is employed to do, which is to score goals for the club. However, he said he would also be working to improve on some aspects of his game.
“I want to improve my skills, especially upping my work rate, speed and aggression, and of course improve on my goals tally. I lost my edge a bit towards the end of the year due to injury.”
Shilongo said he is in the last seven months of his contract with Gaborone and hopes to be signed again.
“I have to keep doing well so I don’t lose my job and come back home. It is either a contract extension or securing an offer somewhere far from home and keep representing Namibia as an ambassador. It will require me to work hard to achieve my goals,” he added.
