Semi-finalists in SV Soccer Tournament split prize
More than 10 football clubs from in and around Oshakati participated in the SV Soccer Tournament held at the town's Ompumbu informal settlement last weekend.
Tournament organiser Benyamin Kamatuwa said that Khuse Academy Football Club (FC), Okamwandi FC, Katengela FC and Oneshila Big Daddy FC reached the semi-final. He said since the proceedings went on quite late, the four teams decided on Sunday night not to go ahead with the finals.
“It was too late for us to finish on Sunday as we planned and as such, the four teams agreed to share the prize,” Kamatuwa explained, adding that each team received N$2 500.
A resident of Ompumbu village, Stephanus Vatileni, donated N$10 000 as sponsorship for the tournament, which was open to football clubs from all regions. Other prizes up for grabs were N$200 and a trophy for the best player of the tournament and N$ 200 for the best-behaved team.
