The chairperson of Rundu Chiefs Football Club (FC), Jesaya Nangolo, has resigned.

In a letter sent to the secretary of the club on 25 December 2017, Nangolo said he was resigning as chairperson because of work and family commitments.

In the letter, which was seen by Nampa, he also said he would like to give other, deserving members a chance to serve in the position.

“I have been serving this club for a long time. I am now making it easier for other people who have new ideas, to take over,” he wrote.

He added that he will continue being a member of the football club and render his assistance wherever needed. Approached for comment, Nangolo told Nampa he had too much on his plate and found it increasingly difficult to be available for the club when needed.

He also serves as a chief headman in the Ukwangali Traditional Authority. Rundu Chiefs spokesperson Thomas Shapi, when contacted for comment after the club's annual general meeting on Saturday, said he could not confirm Nangolo's resignation as he allegedly did not follow procedure.

“The chairperson is elected by the executive committee and can only resign from his position to the committee in person and not in writing,” he said.

Nangolo, however, said his decision stands because the workload from the club had become too demanding.

“It has become too difficult for me to serve the traditional authority and the club at the same time,” he said.
