Founded by Jonathan Sainga, Roqchild Records has been operating since October 2019 and is home to many popular names in the entertainment industry, such as House Guru Gang, Yessonia, Muno, July 6, Un Per Fact and Cardinal Maxx.

House Guru Gang also doubles as the record label's in-house producers, and to sonically polish the music made by signees, the label has entrusted Eddy The Drummer - a sound engineer, producer and live drummer player - to execute this task.

In an interview with tjil, Sainga mentioned that being a new player in the industry, their goal has been to introduce themselves as a label and claim positions for their artists. He believes they have so far achieved more than they had anticipated, given that with the exception of House Guru Gang, the rest of their signees are equally new players in the music space, but have manage to attract the attention of the music community in Namibia.

“In less than a year, we have managed to achieve what it takes most labels over five years to accomplish,” boasted Sainga.

On the inspiration behind the name Roqchild, Sainga shared that it is collection of different things, but mainly the Rothschild family, Roc-A-Fella Records and his belief that there's a child star in every adult.

“It has more to do with the Rothschild Family and their inspiring story to greatness in the business sphere. In the same vein, I also have a lot of respect and admiration for Jay-Z, Damon 'Dame' Dash, and Kareem 'Biggs' Burke, the founders of Roc-A-Fella.

“On the local front, Roqchild is inspired by labels that came before us, such as Mshasho, Gazza Music Production, Ogopa Butterfly and Omalaeti. Without what these entertainment companies did, there wouldn't be a Roqchild Records. I still look up to them,” he added.

Dancehall artist, Yessonia, expressed that she is happy to be part of a team that is dedicated to sharing her music with the masses.

“As a label we promise to always deliver the best and that in few words is what it means to be a Roqchild. We are a family of driven individuals, that's Roqchild,” said Yessonia.
