Police dismiss kapana rumour
Deputy Commissioner Otillie Kashuupulwa of the Erongo Police has denied that something resembling a male sex organ was discovered among pieces of meat being grilled at the stand of a kapana seller in Kuisebmond.
“Speculation doing the rounds about the discovery allegedly made at a kapana stand is devoid of any truth,†she said.
A source informed Namibian Sun that a large crowd had gathered at the stand and threatened to assault the owner after a customer had allegedly made the discovery. The police arrived and defused the situation.
“I investigated after you enquired about the incident and did not find any trace of such an occurrence recorded in our report logbook, which indicates that it never happened,†commented Kashuupulwa.
She did confirm, however, that a police van (POL 6738) crashed through a precast wall at a property situated on the corner of Moses Garoeb Street and Circumferential Road in Walvis Bay at around 7:00 yesterday morning.
“I am aware of the incident but cannot provide additional information. I will only be in a position to do so once I obtain the report,†she said.
According to an eyewitness the driver of the police van swerved to avoid hitting an oncoming truck. Skid marks on the road surface indicate that the vehicle hit the kerb and then crashed through the wall.
