Park-off motoring show a hit
The one thing I love about our car freak generation is the commitment and support they show at all motoring events. Even when most were flat broke and didn’t know where they would source food the next day, they still turned up in big numbers at the TransNamib Gammams Field last Saturday at the Park-Your-Ride event. On a sunny day in Windhoek, the big boys came out to play and bragged alongside their oversized toys. It’s an understatement really to say that it requires passion to go to the lengths these people do. For some it meant nights of hard work, scratching deep into broken pockets and lots of car washes. The Gammams field was jam-packed with a variety of vehicles. Ranging from A-series Mercs to heavily dropped City Golfs. That atmosphere was something the motor enthusiasts had longed for and to some, an opportunity to take notes. The crowd was pleased with DJs who kept them entertained for most of the day. One of the winners in the new age category was Wilbe Januarie in his Minion styled Honda Integra DC5. The winner of the classic category was Godwin Plaath with his gold Volkswagen Beetle. Surprisingly Gerriette Beukes owned the Pick-up/ bakkie category with her white and pink Chevy Ute. John Cloete, founder of Doctatainment said it was a great turnout and wanted to thank everyone that made it possible. “Fresh FM, Monster Energy drink, Yolo Condoms, Spes Bona Motors, Nigel and the Namstance crew, Is Windhoek Hierso and of course the entire Doctatainment crew made this day a huge success,” he said.
