Oshikuku Town Council members re-elected
Oshikuku Mayor Mbockoma Mungandjera was re-elected as mayor and chairperson of the town council at a ceremony held in Oshikuku this past Friday and presided over by Magistrate Unchen Konjore.
Veronika Mwenyo was re-elected as deputy mayor, while Wilhelm Sheende continues as chairperson of the management committee.
Mathew Gabriel was re-elected deputy chairperson and the rest of the councillors retained their previous positions. All seven councillors represent Swapo.
The mayor said the council did well during the 2013/14 financial year, despite the various challenges facing the town. He singled out the water and electricity provision at Extension 2 and 4, rehabilitation of sewerage ponds and the 79 houses constructed under the Mass Housing Programme as some of the success.
Mungandjera reiterated that the council will continue to listen and address the needs of the community with the limited resources at its disposal.
He said the council is busy developing new extensions (Extensions 5, 6, 7 and 8) to address the ever-increasing demand of serviced land for housing and business purposes.
