Oshana football league crowns Africa Motto FC champs
It took Africa Motto Football Club (FC) four years to win the Namibia Football Association (NFA) Second Division Football League in the Oshana Region.
Established in 2011, the club joined and won the Omaalala Village-Based Football League that same year. It was then promoted to the Second Division Football League in 2012.
Africa Motto completed the 2015/16 Second Division Football League in the Oshana Region on 10 April this year at the top of the log standing with 48 points after 22 games.
“We lost only two games and had 14 wins, six draws and 37 goals,” the club’s coach Collin Mhlanga told Nampa at their clubhouse in Oshakati on Sunday.
Oshakati City FC ended second with 41 points.
Africa Motto FC are anticipated to join the promotional play-offs with winners from other Second Division leagues of the Omusati, Kunene and Otjozondjupa regions to qualify for the Northwest First Division Stream.
The date for the promotional play-offs is yet to be decided as it depends on the completion of the football leagues in the other regions.
Omeege United FC ended 12th (bottom of the log) with 15 points and J Aron FC, which are second last from the bottom with 18 points, are likely to be relegated from the Second Division to the Oshana Village-Based Football League.
