One special Polo GTI indeed
Apart from being a 22-year-old national Namibian rugby player, Leneve Damens has another passion he calls his pride and
joy.
What’s the first thing you think of when you hear the word “GTI”? Call me hater or what so ever but I have this preconceived idea of a little gym rat that rocks up at Chill-out every other weekend with his Jordon or Air-max driving a standard GTI that has a bit of the exhaust system
done.
Well that’s not the case with Leneve’s Golf 6 R styled Polo
GTI.
Combining a decent ride height without losing too much comfort, the Polo is fitted with JOM Coil-over suspension and a pair of decent 17” Lenso lightweight rims, 8j in front 9j rear plus some 5mm spacers at the back just to mention a few.
Leneve, who is originally from Khomasdal schooled in Windhoek through most of his primary school years but moved to Grey College in South Africa from sixth grade to the end of his school
journey. After school, Leneve studied sport science and came back to Namibia last year to achieve his dream of representing the Welwitschias in the Rugby world.
Leneve says when he came back he considered buying himself a Volkswagen Polo but because he’s an adrenaline junkie, he opted for the more powerful Polo
GTI.
At this stage, all he could think about was putting his fingerprints on the little beast and contacted Ricky.
(If by now you don’t know the name Ricky, you’re probably one of those GTI guys in front of Chill-out).
Leneve shared his ideas with Ricky and the rest was
history.
What makes this Polo stand out from the rest would be its Golf 6-R styled front end. To date, I have not seen another in Namibia like it.
The sound system installed is in a class of its own with two 15” Targa Venom subwoofers each pumping out a massive 10 000
watts.
One Targa samurai series mono-block amplifier that eases off 20 000watts, one Sony 2 channel amplifier, a six pioneer split system, tweeters on each door arm rest and a Targa pre amp.
If ever there are talks about a lacking sound system for a Swapo rally, I think you’d know who to call.
