NUST appoints new council

The Minister of Higher Education, Training and Innovation, Itah Kandjii-Murangi, handed over letters of appointment to the new council members of the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) in Windhoek this week.
The 10 new council members are going to be serving NUST for a three-year term. Amongst themselves the members of the council will elect their Chairperson and Deputy-Chairperson that will help the council in executing their core mandate.
The Minister thanked the council members for their patience and said that she was impressed with their willingness to serve. The selection of the council members took five to six months longer than intended, a move the Minister says is imperative to the successful implementation of the newly established University.
“NUST is now a university, and with that comes a change of mandate which we need council members for with experience and expertise that can be used by the university to take it into the next stage.”
“There is no doubt in my mind that we have selected the right council members to take charge of the university and make sure that NUST becomes a leader in applied research and innovation, concepts on which the university is to be build” the Minister assured all stakeholders.
The new members of the council are; Mark Von Joney, Esi Schimming-Chase, Maureen Kambala, Michael Mutonga, Samuel Januarie, Mercy Situmbeko, Kondjeni Nkandi, Michael Humavindu, Goms Menette, Linda Aipinge, and Raimo Naanda.
