New note for 30 years

The Bank of Namibia (BoN) on Saturday launched a N$30-note to mark three decades of independence. BoN governor Iipumbu Shiimi (left) said the central bank has a long-standing tradition to celebrate significant events in Namibia by issuing commemorative coins. However, it is the first time the BoN has issued a note. Founding president Sam Nujoma (right), former president Hifikepunye Pohamba and current president Hage Geingob are on the front of the note. On the back are two black Namibian rhinos to contribute to the continued awareness campaign against rhino poaching. The note will start circulating in May and will be legal tender.
