Ndaendapo to fight for world title in November
Judgement Day Promotions will host a boxing bonanza next month, during which Swakopmund-based Abraham Ndaendapo will vie for a vacant WBF title.
Namibian super featherweight boxer Abraham ''Energy'' Ndaendapo will step into the ring against Rimar ''Terminator'' Metuda of the Philippines on 26 November to contest for the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) world title.
Newly established Judgement Day Promotions, formed by a group of local lawyers, announced this on Thursday.
Ndaendapo has a record of 19 fights with 15 wins, three losses and one no-contest, while Metuda has a record of 10 fights and one defeat.
The fight will take place at the Ramatex complex in Windhoek.
The Swakopmund boxer won the vacant African Junior Lightweight International Boxing Federation (IBF) title in August 2015 after defeating Tanzanian boxer Mustafa Doto. But he lost against Oscar Chauke from South Africa in a fight for the WBF Intercontinental Super Featherweight title in June this year.
Ndaendapo told the media on Thursday that he was happy to challenge for the world title.
“I am excited to be the main bout in November and I know that Judgement Day Promotions wants to promote young talented athletes, and come fight night I will do my best to keep the title in Namibia,” he said. Speaking at the same occasion, Wes Chikwililwa, a member of Judgement Day Promotions, said they had seen talent in Namibia and realised the need to support upcoming boxers. “We just need training facilities and we will give all these young upcoming boxers a chance to showcase their talent,” he
said.
