Nangolo to face Ndaendapo for national title

Nangolo has called out several boxers from different stables in Namibia to fight him, especially Fillipus 'Energy' Nghitumbwa of the MTC Nestor Sunshine Boxing and Fitness Academy.

Flame 'Special One' Nangolo is scheduled to fight Abraham Ndaendapo for the junior lightweight national title in Windhoek on 10 December.

This was announced by African Connection (AC) Boxing promoter Immanuel Moses during a press conference held in Windhoek.

Nangolo said he is excited that Ndaendapo has finally responded to his request, adding that boxing fans must expect fireworks come December.

“I can’t wait to prove to everyone that I am the best boxer in Namibia in my division. For a long time, I have been calling out these kids to face me but they were scared that I would beat them up.

“I promise my opponent that I will take that title and after the fight I will stop talking because I know I will be crowned as the new junior lightweight national champion. Then they will be the ones who will start looking for me,” Nangolo said.

Jam-packed night

Meanwhile, Moses said it is time that Namibian boxing promoters make local boxing more competitive, with stables having national champion boxers to defend them before they conquer intercontinental championship competitions.

“I think the boxing control board must set a timeframe for when and how long boxers should defend their title because other fighters are denied their opportunity to challenge for national titles,” he said.

The Rising Stars Friday Night Fight will see 10 bouts taking place.

Other boxers who are scheduled to trade leather are Andreas Johannes, Robert Ndalelwa, Ruaan Raspel, Usko Rehabeam, and Hafeni Ngesheya, who will all compete in the lightweight division.

In the welterweight division Jonas Jonas, Harry Simon Junior and Alfeus Shaanika will be in action, while in the flyweight category Jackob Jakob is expected to face a yet-to-be-announced opponent.
