NAMIBIA WELCOMES RELEASE OF CHIBOK GIRLS
RELEASED: In this handout picture, some of the 82 released Chibok girls wait before a meeting with Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. Eighty-two of the more than 200 schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram in northeast Nigeria in 2014 arrived in Abuja on Sunday to meet the Nigerian president after a prisoner swap deal secured their release. The Namibian government yesterday welcomed the release of the Nigerian girls. “The people in the northern part of Nigeria have suffered unimaginable distress caused by militants. The Chibok girls underwent trauma of insurgencies as they have been held under difficult conditions,” a statement from the international relations ministry read. Photo: NAMPA/AFP
