Namibians can add chopped onions to their list of proudly Namibian products bought off the shelf, with the launch this past weekend of My Green’s Onion Flakes.Produced by local company Leap Agribusiness, the company’s latest edition to its My Green brand is now available from the Food Lovers Market in Kleine Kuppe, in 250 ml tubs.At the launch event on Saturday, local celebrity chef Fortune Kangueehi served up attractive dishes using the product, ranging from chicken to meatballs, while consumers were given their first opportunity to buy.According to Leap Agribusiness co-founder Ally Angula, one teaspoon of their onion flakes roughly equals a medium onion, in other words roughly 50 onions per tub.“The onion flakes are a 100% purely Namibian product, as the onions were grown on the Leap Agribusiness farm. The product was processed and packaged here as well, using locally sourced packaging.”Another 100% guarantee is that no additives or additional ingredients have been added, she says.Exclusively available for now from the Food Lovers Market in Kleine Kuppe, My Green’s Onion Flakes are soon expected to also be stocked at Food Lovers Market, Maerua Mall.STAFF REPORTER
