Multichoice Namibia today kicked off their #IAmAnAfrican campaign, aimed at sharing African success stories.
Speaking to tjil, Levana Cloete, Multichoice’s corporate affairs manager, said Africa month, which is celebrated every May, has grown into a culturally significant time of honouring the continent, its uniqueness and its various cultures.
“Bearing this in mind, Multichoice, as a leading African storyteller, aims to showcase African success stories from creatives who take pride in being African through the #IAmAnAfrican campaign.
“Using the power of entertainment to enrich the lives of our customers, our goal is to invest in our stories, talent and communities where we are rooted,” Cloete said.

Local talent to shine
The campaign will feature on DStv and GOtv’s social media pages.
Cloete mentioned Adriano Visagie, Girley Jazama, Caillin Basson, Andrew Robson and the 2019 MultiChoice Talent Factory students as the Namibian creatives featured in the #IAmAnAfrican campaign.

Africa Day Benefit Concert
In other news, in celebration of Africa Day this year, popular music channel MTV Base Africa has partnered with YouTube to curate the Africa Day Benefit Concert.
The concert will be hosted by British actor Idris Elba and aired on the MTV Base Africa YouTube page on Monday, 25 May, at 18:00 and on MTV Base (DStv channel 322) at 21:00.
The music channel last weekend revealed a thrilling line-up featuring some of Africa’s biggest names in music including Burna Boy, Fally Ipupa, Tiwa Savage, Sho Madjozi, Sauti Sol, AKA and more.
“MTV Base and YouTube are asking you to stay at home and celebrate the Africa Day Benefit Concert with me,” Tanzania’s Nandy, who is also on the line-up, wrote on Instagram.
