Not so long ago we bade Meriam Kaxuxwena (MK) farewell and wished her all the best as she headed off to Poland for the ninth Miss Supranational event. MK was one of 68 women from all over the world competing for the title. Although she did not emerge as the ultimate winner, she managed to walk away with the title Best Body 2017.

The model couldn't contain her excitement saying although it was a cold two weeks with a lot of early morning waking up and hard work, she had made some of her best memories on the trip. The Miss Supranational competition took place in two countries, Poland and Slovakia where 23-year-old Jenny Kim from Korea was crowned the winner at the conclusion of a spectacular event in Poland. Miss Colombia, Tica Martinez, was the first runner-up, Romania's Bianca Tirsin the second runner-up and Miss Ethiopia, Bitaniya Josef, the third runner-up.

“The stage was what stood out for me as it was so big and the fact that it was live on television in more than 150 countries. It was just a special moment for me because I met and made a lot of friends, networking is really important,” MK said.

Before the grand finale, the judges and candidates chose winners for five special awards which include Best National Costume, Best Evening Dress, Top Model, Best Body and Friendship. MK was crowed Best Body 2017 and she believe she deserves the win as she has worked hard to obtain her body size and to maintain it.

“I was always in and out of the gym, I dedicated most of my time in there working out and I'm very happy that my work paid off. This recognition means the world to me and I will cherish it always,” said MK. The model will be taking some time off for herself on a well-deserved holiday in Brazil before the next year begins. She will be focusing on getting her business off the ground and start preparing for her fashion show.

“Next year will be a great year full of so many surprises I hope. I will be modelling but I will spend most of it building my brand locally, and globally,” said MK.
