Several stories about bad experiences involving fashion designer Ruberto Scholtz have poured onto Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

Unhappy clients said it's high time the truth is spoken.

The recent saga involved a matric learner who took a design from Pintrest to Scholtz and thought she would be the only one boasting her unique dress at her matric farewell.

However, it has since emerged that Scholtz made three other matric dresses using the design she gave him.

The matric learner, who prefers to be anonymous, claims the designer was wrong to use her design for other dresses.

“The dress was expensive, meaning it is supposed to be unique; if I wanted to wear something like everyone else I would have gone to Edgars or Truworths,” said the enraged client.

Scholtz, however, told tjil all the clients knew what they were getting themselves into, as he told them in advance that they have the same design.

He also pointed out that the clients were not from the same school or towns and that he will not allow his brand to be tarnished.

“I have differentiated the dresses by adding unique qualities to each; when they chose the fabric, they were aware that the three of them will have a similar design. It is a much requested look and they all requested it, so I told them what they were getting into and they were fine with it. I am able to sue anyone that tries to slander my name,” he said.

Scholtz explained to tjil there are custom-made designs that are original and ones that customers can have rights to, and those where clients come with pictures from elsewhere. The latter was the case with the matric dresses.

He said the base design belongs to someone else and they can't claim it.

Scholtz also told tjil he has decided not to take any more orders similar to the design in question.

Meanwhile on Twitter, about four people came out expressing their dissatisfaction with Scholtz's alleged lack of professionalism and how this ruined important days.

@2Shadesofjoy claimed that as much as he does indeed make 'killer dresses', he also ignores clients and blocks them.

“I wouldn't recommend anyone unless you want to come late to your event or not show up at all,” read the tweet.

On Facebook, the guardian of a matric learner called Paula, claimed they took material and paid Scholtz for a dress that they never got and were never refunded for.

According to her, Jenny Demuinda, a kidney patient who does not have parents ended up going to the mall to get a dress last-minute as the designer was nowhere to be found.

“He said he would give her a loan dress which he never did. It's unfair because she gave the material and deposit. He even denied knowing her. I felt bad because the hospital was her home and the farewell was supposed to be a highlight and he knew all of this,” said Paula.

Designer Absai Iileka came out defending his friend and colleague on Facebook, sharing a picture collage with celebrities wearing similar designs.

“Since some of y'all like stirring up drama. I will just leave this one here. And please put in mind, this dress is over £500 000 and worn by high profile clients. But yet they didnt go on .(sic),” the post read.
