Making those money moves
Gone are the days when art and entertainment were viewed as the stepchild of the business world. Here is a list of some Namibian entertainers who secured corporate deals this year.
Gazza and NBL
Gazza Music Production (GMP) managed to secure a deal with Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL) to come on board as one of the main sponsors for the #GazzaMilliConcert. This is a very difficult sponsorship to secure in the music space, and NBL must truly have a special interest in Gazza.
Selma Kamanya and Shell
Miss Namibia 2018, Selma Kamanya, was named the Shell Card brand ambassador of Namibia. “Shell Card is the next level fuel card for optimal fleet management. I was taken on an office tour and got to see where all the magic happens, as well as meet all the people responsible for the enquiries, production and distribution of the Shell Card,” Kamanya announced on social media.
ZuluBoy and Nictus Giga
The Ama-Daz-Floor member and Gweri Vintage frontman partnered up with Nictus Giga to sell his stylish happy socks. Besides that, ZuluBoy was featured in an MTC ad campaign and collaborated with Jägermeister for a collection of Gweri socks.
DJ Castro and Coke Energy
This year was an explosive one for the energetic music mixologist. In September things got even better when Coke Energy Namibia announced DJ Castro as the new emissary for its energy drink. “I have always had a dream to become an influencer, brand ambassador or get an endorsement that compliments my energy. Finally I have a new family, Coke Energy. I'm humbled to start a new journey with a major brand (Coca-Cola); it's a blessing,” DJ Castro wrote on Instagram, when he announced the partnership.
Kp Illest and Predator
Despite being occupied with gigs and studio time for his second album Faith & Favour, which was released recently, the rapper did not neglect the business side of things, as he managed to score himself a deal with Predator energy drink and was also featured in a MultiChoice ad campaign.
