Recently-elected Khorixas Constituency Councillor, Sebastiaan !Gobs said that together with the unemployed youth, opportunities will be created for employment by getting ideas from the youth.

!Gobs said that currently there are no projects that could employ the youth and ideas from the young people are welcome to start projects that could possibly create employment at the town.

“As we all know, there are currently no projects that can employ many youths since the projects are not big. It can only employ a handful youth of the town. However, as from next year, my office will be open for ideas from the youth so that we put together these ideas and start with looking for investors to make the ideas come true in terms of creating employment,” he said.

He added that the youth should come up with ideas that can create jobs for the next generation of youth to come and not ideas that only create work for a short period of time.

Investors

“I will fully support the youth in their quest to create employment for the town 100 percent. I will also visit the Namibia Investment Centre next year to see what we can come up with to attract investors to our town, that way we will also create employment. By next year I will also be looking at the mines that will be opening in the surrounding areas of Khorixas”, !Gobs said.

“We will discuss with them the way forward and we will plead with them to prioritise employing the youth of Khorixas since the mines are closer to our town. But for everything I am saying it will only be by next year because we only have a few weeks before the end of this year and most offices are closed by now,” he added.

!Gobs added that as the councillor of the constituency and as far as youth employment is concerned the youth forums of Khorixas will be invited to sit in on meetings with investors to get them involved in strategies of employing young people in projects that will be executed locally.- Nampa
