The Khomas Region Athletics hosted a successful Khomas Super League on Saturday.
The event saw athletes as young as 12 competing and testing their level of fitness at the Independence Stadium.
There were different items which the athletes participated in, ranging from track and field events such as 100 m, 150 m, 200 m as well as 400 m, shotput, long jump and high jump.
The atmosphere was fun filled, yet energetic and full of vigour. The athletes were well prepared and determined to reach their limits.
The organiser of the league, Ernst Narib, who also took part and came first in all races he took part in, said young people need to stay active and persevere.
“I came today not only to organise but also to take part in these sport items myself to show the young ones the example. I too was a young boy training with those older than me, but all that work I put in has really shaped me to be as quick as I am today,” he said.
Imanuel Samuntu was among those who showed up and outdid himself at the League. He took part in the senior men’s high jump.
Samuntu was happy with his performance, saying: “The support I received gave me more energy to go on. I’m grateful for my school friends and family for being here to support me. I’m really looking forward to get back to training in order for me to perfect the skill and show up with better energy I had today and much more.”
