Johannes wins Sam Nujoma Half-Marathon

Namibia's marathon sensation Helalia Johannes added another medal to her collection after winning the MTC Sam Nujoma Half-Marathon in Windhoek yesterday morning.
Johannes finished the 21-km race for women in a time of 1:17:51. She was followed by veteran athlete Beata Naigambo, with Ester Haitope in third place
The men's 21-km run was won by Jeremia Shaliaxwe in a time of 1:09:45. Mynhardt Kauanivi came second and Matheus Kadhingula finished in third place.
The 10-km men's race was won by Viuds Goel, who clocked 36:47, followed by Joy-deep Chandra in second place and JG van Graan finishing third.
The women's race over 10 km was won by Rauna Eelu clocking 40:40, followed Beata Jeremia and Louise van Graan in third.
The half-marathon is held annually in honour of founding president Sam Nujoma's birthday.
The marathon is open to Namibian and international athletes alike.
The winners of the men's and women's open category received N$10 000 each, with the national champions also getting N$10 000 bonus prizes.
The runners-up received N$8 000, while the third-placed athletes received N$7 000.
