Jewels' eyes set on future gains

The Desert Jewels of Namibia are gearing to take part in the Netball Spar Challenge in Cape Town, South Africa, from 24 to 31 March.
The competition will see the team competing against the likes of Uganda, the Spar Proteas and a President's XII team.
Take your chances
Netball Namibia's Rebekka /Goagoses says because of the big plans lined-up, it is important to grab this opportunity with both hands.
She said the sponsorship lifted a huge burden off their shoulders. The Jewels' participation in the upcoming Spar Challenge is sponsored by Debmarine Namibia, Airlink, BDO, XCO Group, Paratus Namibia, Living Brands, Windhoek Gymnasium, Windhoek Afrikaanse Privaatskool (WAP), Arebbusch Lodge, G4S, Architectural Outlet and the Namibian Sports Commission.
“We set ourselves the goal of exposing our national team by participating in worthwhile tournaments outside the country. Our challenge has always been the lack of finances and we were not sure whether we would be in a position to send the team to Cape Town.
Thankfully, Debmarine and the other sponsors raised their hands in the nick of time to relieve us of that heavy burden,” said /Goagoses.
She said the team has the desire and the talent to perform well on the international stage, “but our headache is always the financial part of making dreams come true. You have no idea how elated we are as a board that we have been granted this opportunity by our generous sponsors. I'm sure the team will do everything possible not to disappoint them and indeed the entire Namibian nation.”
The squad is busy with intensive training and will depart for South Africa within the next week.
