Former unified light-welterweight world champion Julius ‘Blue Machine’ Indongo and Rio gold medallist Daniyar Yeleussinov of Kazakhstan will trade leather on Friday for the IBF Intercontinental fight at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Florida.

The bout will be part of the Daniel Jacobs versus Gabriel Rosado undercard.

With the fight approaching, Indongo’s camp is urging the country to support the Namibian in his quest to get back into fighting at top level.

Local trainer Immanuel ‘Ace’ Moses spoke to Namibian Sun from Florida as they added the final touches to the fighter’s strategy.

Ready for a great fight

“The training camp was great. Indongo is in great shape, ready put up a great performance and bring the belt home. This is a do-or-die fight for Indongo to get back in the mix. He is facing a young prospect with a good amateur resume. He is former Olympian just like Indongo when he was coming up,” Moses said.

Tough year

The promoter, who is the owner of AC Boxing Promotions, said they have had a tough year trying to keep afloat and organise events without sponsorship, but added that it will not stand in their way.

“Hopefully next year, sponsors can come on board so we can create more opportunities for the young Namibian boxers,” he said.
